Tidewater Arts Outreach Announces New Management Team

(Hampton Roads) – Tidewater Arts Outreach announces a new management team to carry on the mission of bringing the healing power of the arts to older adults and those in isolating circumstances – a mission more critical than ever.
Kate Powell has been appointed Executive Director after previously serving as TAO’s Director of Development. Stacy Jones joins as the Program Director, overseeing all program operations.
“We are thrilled to welcome these two talented individuals to the Tidewater Arts Outreach team,” says Board President, Donna Long. “Their expertise in administration and their passion for those we serve – as well as the arts – make an ideal team to further the mission of this organization during this critical time.”
Says Board Vice-President, Stuart Goldwag, “I am really excited about this next stage of growth for Tidewater Arts Outreach. I believe Kate’s enthusiasm, organizational and communication skills, and dedication will pay dividends for the organization. The senior population and others experiencing isolation in this region are sure to benefit from this new leadership.”
About Kate Powell, MPA, CFRE:
Kate Powell, Executive Director, brings fundraising and management experience from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, PORTCO, Inc., and her previous position as Director of Development at Tidewater Arts Outreach.
Kate received her Bachelor of Music in Music Industry from James Madison University (Go Dukes!) and her Master of Public Administration from South University. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive credential in June of 2019. Kate is also a board member of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
About Stacy Jones, MS:
Stacy Jones, after serving in the United States Navy, earned her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University. After discovering her interest in programming and the gaps in services that exist for individuals isolated from the general population, she earned her Master in Program Administration for Human Services from St. Leo University and entered the world of program administration and management.
She entered the homeless services and mental health field of study to explore her passion for serving marginalized and underrepresented populations. Her social work experience in Hampton Roads includes the Planning Council, 5Star Residential Care, and the City of Virginia Beach.
