Tidewater Arts Outreach Produces the second annual Once More Concert and Instruments of Art Auction with Presenting Sponsor Westminster-Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Hampton Roads) – Tidewater Arts Outreach will once again produce the Once More Concert and Instruments of Art Auction on April 22, 2021 with Presenting Sponsor Westminster-Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay.
The Once More Concert will feature four Hampton Roads residents serving as inspirations for four of the region’s best songwriters who will turn their life stories into original songs. The virtual meetings of the inspirations and songwriters as well as the private premier of each song for its inspiration will be presented at the virtual event on April 22.
The famous Instruments of Art Auction – where four old musical instruments get a second chance at life as original art works by Tidewater Arts Outreach visual artists – will also occur in conjunction with the concert.
“Westminster-Canterbury is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of this year’s Once More Concert and Instruments of Art Auction. As a premier senior living community, we know firsthand the important role that the arts play in the health and well-being of older adults,” said Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay CEO, Ben Unkle. “We are honored to help ensure that Tidewater Arts Outreach can continue its mission of sharing the joy and healing power of live art experiences with older adults and those who have limited access to the arts due to health, economic or social circumstances.”
This will be the second year Tidewater Arts Outreach will produce the Once More Concert. It was originally slated to premier as an in-person concert in late March of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented that premier and it was eventually produced as a virtual event in June 2020.
“Last year’s event produced some extraordinary works from the songwriters and their inspirations,” said Tidewater Arts Outreach Executive Director, Kate Powell. “We hope to build on that creative excellence in this year’s virtual event. We absolutely could not have done this event again this year without Westminster-Canterbury.”
Tidewater Arts Outreach is also tentatively planning to produce an encore performance for the artists of both the first and second year of Once More when CDC guidelines allow for larger gatherings conducive to live concerts.
Tickets to the Once More Concert and information about the Instruments of Art auction are available at www.tidewaterartsoutreach.org. All proceeds from the event will support Tidewater Arts Outreach programs in the community.
