Heartfelt, energetic, and down-home. Heralded by CMT Edge as “one of the most promising bands on the bluegrass scene,” the music of the Nashville based group The Barefoot Movement is as down to earth as their intention for members of their audience. All the worries and frustrations of the world melt away as this charming, acoustic band takes listeners back to a simpler place and time. Whether you’re seeking emotional ballads or rip-roaring barn-burners, you can expect a collection of music that offers something for everyone. The group has two full-length albums, an EP of traditional music, several cross-country tours, and appearances at some of the top bluegrass festivals in the United States to their credit. They received an IBMA “Band of the Year” Momentum Award in 2014.  And no wonder…

Their show is as fun to watch as it is to hear.  Their smiles are obvious displays of the joy and excitement they feel when the music comes over them.   Those feelings are infectious – be ready to be inspired by the musicality, energy and rhythms behind this band.

Virginia Beach native son and Special Guest Will Overman will play an opening set.   “Drawing comparisons to Jason Isbell and Damien Rice, Overman carries an unwavering commitment to his music and to his fans. Soulful and unforgettable. Addictive and sometimes playful. Meaningful and real. Those factors, plus a transcendent passion and unyielding commitment to his craft, are what truly define this rising, must-see young artist, who has only just begun what promises to be a long and fruitful musical journey.”

About Waterman’s Surfside Grille:  The Standing family started a ‘walk-up burger joint & souvenir shop’ at the current Waterman’s site in the 1960’s.  One of their claims to fame is the ubiquitous Oceanfront summertime ‘Orange Crush.’  They’re also well-known for great seafood and a warm ambiance.  Their upstairs Attic Room can accommodate 150 and is a perfect spot for an intimate concert.
