Shout-Out to TAO’s Extraordinary Volunteers

Instruments of Art Volunteer Shout Out

The 7th Annual Instruments of Art Auction and Celebration at Decorum Furniture was a blast! On Saturday, February 6th more than 40 wonderfully willing volunteers answered the call to support the annual fundraiser. In addition, generous visual artists created original art.  The event was a huge boon for TAO, raising more than $27,000.  Volunteers helped in every area; setup, greeting, registration, bartending, selfie station fun, you name it our volunteers DID IT! If you didn’t have a chance to see event photos on our Artist and Volunteer Facebook page, take some time to check them out (shameless plug, join the group!) Thank you volunteers for being such rock stars in service to TAO! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!

April in National Volunteer Appreciation Month

Did you know April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month and April 10 – 16 is National Volunteer Week? TAO does our best to show love to volunteers all year round but we want to take this time to give a special thank you and raise awareness of the invaluable work our volunteers do. Volunteers help run our office by supporting TAO’s one full-time and three part-time paid staff. Volunteers help raise funds by organizing and working events; they are ambassadors for TAO in the community by hosting programs and serving at every level from the board down. For the months of January and February we have tracked 595.75 volunteer hours contributed to the TAO mission. The national value of a volunteer hour is $23.07. Do you know what this means? Since January 1st volunteers have contributed the equivalent of $13,743.95 to TAO. Tidewater Arts Outreach volunteers are AMAZING, and we can never thank them enough.
