‘Rock the River’ on June 2 for TAO with Mason Brown & the Shiners

Steve and Christie Stancliff host ‘Rock the River’ on June 2, 2018, to benefit Tidewater Arts Outreach.  Mason Brown and the Shiners headline; The Storyweavers open & a special guest will perform.

Tickets are $50 and include dinner, drinks at the riverfront tiki bar, the great music on the water and more.  Here is a note from our host and Tidewater Arts Outreach board chair, Steve Stancliff:

“For those who may not know, Tidewater Arts Outreach uniquely serves isolated segments of our community – older adults, people with dementia, veterans struggling with consequences of conflict, and those in crisis. And I have the honor of serving as the chair of its board of directors. Tidewater Arts Outreach shares the joy and healing power of quality arts programs, experiences, and workshops with older adults, people who have special needs, caregivers, artists and volunteers.  And I want to share the day with friends and colleagues celebrating an organization that uses art, music and dance to nourish souls and enrich lives for underserved and sometimes forgotten older adults – while listening to great music.

We are lucky to have the official country band of Langley Speedway, Mason Brown and the Shiners, who are known for their Front Porch Pickin’, Simple Livin’, Foot Stompin’, Hell Raisin’, Tear Jerkin’, One Woman Lovin’, Hard Workin’, Hay Makin’, Late Night Sippin’, Good Timin’, Honky Tonkin’ Country Music.  They were recently featured as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s campaign helping veterans transition into farming. Watch their recent video, American Farmer, recorded at SoniQual Studios with video by Metro Productions.

Mason Brown & The Shiners may not be a household name, but these boys have been around the block a dozen times over.  Each and every one of them have played everywhere from honky tonks and late night dives to big stages flooded with bright lights.  They don’t do it for the money and they don’t do it for the fame…they do it for the love of music.

Kicking off the festivities will be local powerhouse, The Storyweavers, featuring Sheela Fortner – singer/songwriter, Linda Gale Poole – singer/songwriter/guitarist, Beth Whyle – bassist/background vocals and Jennifer McLaughlin – American Sign Language performance artist.
This band of multi-talented women weaves true magic with Americana flair, served with a side of Appalachian goodness. Their storytelling is beautiful. Love. Hope. Blues. Pain. Soul. Celebration.

Recently nominated by Veer Music as best in Americana and winner of the TidewaterReads “Battle of the Bands.” Look for their upcoming CD release, recorded, mixed and mastered at SoniQual Studios.

Sit back and enjoy the ride…
