Our Outreach

If you are looking to provide enriching arts experiences in group settings, for older adults and people living in isolating circumstances, please email Kathleen Locke at kathleen@tidewaterartsoutreach.org.

Tidewater Arts Outreach matches artists with opportunities to share their talents with under-served populations, through scheduled outreach programs.  Hundreds of artists, teachers, facilitators and therapists share their creativity and compassion through dozens of monthly events.  We serve people who have special needs or circumstances by sharing enriching, client-centered arts experiences.  These experiences also serve and support caregivers by demonstrating the power and benefits of quality arts engagements in practical, adaptable ways.

To strengthen our outreach, we further serve artists and caregivers by sharing resources on best practices in arts and wellness and by producing training workshops on how to use the arts effectively for different populations.

We  mentor artists and pay them for their valuable skills, on a per-program basis.  We send artists and volunteers to dozens of area facilities: shelters for homeless families and victims of domestic violence, hospitals, dependent care youth and adult day programs, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.  We invite home-based caregivers to attend our outreach programs with their care partners, so isolated individuals can participate in social, creative engagement experiences.

Surveys assess program impacts.  See what people are saying about our programs on our outcomes page.
