“Mommy and Me” Arts Program Empowers Genieve Shelter women and children

Arts teacher Jill Tiderman spends many purpose-filled hours helping children engage creatively in Chesapeake public schools. Several times each year, she shares her art supplies, creativity, and happy, generous nature with mothers (often young) and their children at area shelters.

Her “Power Bead Bracelet” workshops allow children and their parents time and space to relax with each other in a creative and restorative atmosphere of art-making.  The group weaves words of encouragement and empowerment into individual bracelets with personal meaning.  Words like ‘peace, love’, their names, their children’s names…along with their hopes and dreams.

You can help fund more programs that engage artists like Jill with parents and children who face crisis, hardship and uncertainty.  Find out more about our programs here.  Make a donation here.  Thank you.
