Arts Outreach June 19 – 26

More than two dozen artists will participate in seven outreach programs this week:

Tina Micula presents the second of a two-series songwriting session for military caregivers at the Hampton VA on Tuesday night.   Caregivers liked: “Being able to express myself through music.” “Peaceful.” “Great experience of expression.”

Jan Cline and MaryAnn Toboz share “Music and Movement” at Portsmouth Senior Station on Wednesday.  Wednesday night has us singing and dancing with The Up Center’s Camp Horizon campers.  Campers love the sing-along, dance-along style of our programs.  Percussion instruments are an added bonus.

Arthur Lopez shares djembes and hand percussion with elders on Thursday at Coliseum Park nursing home.  As part of his ‘Drum Your Dream’ workshop, he encourages everyone to find their own, personal rhythm, in addition to making music loud, soft, fast and slow, as a group.

Three programs happen on Saturday:  Kaliki Dancers share dance and lovely hand hula at Berger Goldrich Home; Tidewater Bluegrass Revival performs at York Convalescent Center and Vocal Inclusion Studios artists sing hits from Broadway shows with children, family and staff at St. Mary’s Home.
